TEACHING IN THE FALL :)

Hello all,

I start doing student teachings in the fall.  I don't know exactly what school i will be at yet.  Although i did "request" to be in this one school that has a "department" for HOH and Deaf Kids and another "department" for Autistic kids.  I know a bit about HOH and Deaf kids and i sort of want to learn some new ways of teaching and that will help me in the future.  So i may want to work with Autistic kids and not HOH and Deaf kids.  But i don't know 100$ yet.

Just thought i give a bit of a short up-date where i am right now.

I have 2 and 1/2 more years left of college.  I also teach Freshman Orientation (again) in the fall.

Thanks,

Good luck with your student teaching, Alex, and I hope you get to work with HOH and deaf kids! Seems like a logical placement and deaf kids sure do need teachers who can relate to them as well as you can. Best, Linda

Alex, I am also a teacher for the Deaf and HOH in a rural area near the QC. I have been teaching and or as an aide for Deaf/ HOH or Learning Disablities students for a little over 17 years now! I wish you the best of luck! I could not respond to your question earlier about if I live in IL and will have surgery in University of Iowa- maybe due to you having semi-privacy. Anyway, Yes I live in Kewanee, IL and will be going to U of I on Friday, April 3rd for my CI surgery. Lisa W.

I just wanted to give an update here. I will be teaching at a learning center with kids that have autism. When i went there, i found out that the program for kids that are HOH or Deaf, is more "home based" meaning that teachers and speech therapist go to these parent's home to work with the kids. I cant' really do this because it "wont work with my education requirements".. so sadly it won't work out :( So i will be working with kids that have autism and apply my skills and communication methods to work with these kids. I am really looking forward to this. I am actually in the process to see if i can "meet" any one of these kids and get to learn more about Autism. Anyways, i thought i give a short update on the situation here. Any one in Talmage or Stow Ohio and want to meet, send me a message (i am here until May 15th) then back home in Chicago IL. :) Thanks,
