I am so glad to be able to hear with my cochlear implant. What would we have done without computers! I have been deaf since birth but did not wear hearing aids until I was about three years old in both ears. I lost my hearing on my left side after the birth of my first son in 1988 but I could still hear with a hearing aid on my right side. Then in October 2000, I lost my hearing on my right and was not able to wear a hearing aid at all. So I knew that I need to have a cochlear implant.

I got my cochlear implant in 2001 of March and it has been great. There was still a lot of fine tuning to get all of the programs to work and to be able to understand what was I hearing, which I am sure that we all had to go through during this process.

I now have the new Freedom BTE and I love it. I feel very fortunate to have a job working with computers and to be able to listen to the radio in my car and thru the internet on my computer. I am so grateful that I can still use the cell phone to talk to my family and friends.
