CI Moments.....Oct 2010

First moment, While I was relaxing on my hammock on my deck on beautiful Fall evening. I heard this crackle noise and though, oops, my CI must be acting up. I though maybe the way my head rest on pillow. So I sat up on my hammock and hoping it wasn't my CI acting up. There my dog, Summer once again testing me. She was rolling around on the grass. My jaw drop and I was talking myself, are you kidding me!!!!  I can HEAR grass!!!! My grass was just little dry, no much. The grass was making crackle noise while she was rolling around on her back. She loves roll on grass. I can hear the grass from my hammock on the deck to where Summer was under the tree. My guess, about 8-10 feet away!!!!  I though I was dreaming and I wasn't. She rolled around again, I heard it and sure enough, its was the grass!!!!!!

Second moment, I walked my dog, Runway (Husky). He loves to go for walk and act like sled puller. I was behind him and he pulling me, not hard or anything, just pace walk. His claws sound so cool!!!! It sound like horses hoofs parade down the street. It was so cool and makes me smile and makes my feeling kicking up fire. Before CI, I can barley hear it with hearing aid. Now with 2 CIs, AMAZING SOUND of claws!!! I can even hear my dogs come in house with their claws clanging on the wood floor from back door to my room which is other end of house. I was like here comes my kids. Waited, waited, finally there they are. I was like WOW, I must've heard you coming in from back door.  Was from living room with one CI. Now 2 CIs, they're coming in from back door.

Awesome Cathy! I love hearing the sounds of our best buddies. Two nights ago I was walking Saxon and I had this feeling that I heard another dog walking right behind me. I turned back and saw nothing. But I kept hearing toenails on the sidewalk so I turned around and looked across the street and there it was, another dog walking all the way across the street I heard his toenails. Totally amazing! I love my CI! Deb

Cathy, Aren't we sooo blessed to have our CIs!!! I have the same experience now with Niles and Frazier. When I walk in the house I almost always hear them walking or running to me before I ever see them. Before my CI I don't ever remember hearing the sounds of their feet inside our house or on our many walks outside. Happy Hearing!! Wayne

Bilateral CI's are so incredible!!! Hearing grass? Wow!!! Yes, the puppies are definitely easier to know where they are now that we can hear them, aren't they? lol

Go Cathy - that's quite a feat from that distance, guess it made getting out your hammock not so bad, right? I suppose you hear their tags jingling, too? Big swishy tail "ya done good" for your 4-legged buddies and you! Hugs, Ellen

Nice CI moments. I've yet to hear my dogs claws but I think it's because my house is so noisy.

You Go girl!! WhooHoo!! I'm so excited for you!! It looks like your CI has brought you up to "normal hearing" What I mean is that when you look at an audiogram, you can tell the huge difference before and when you have gotten your CI!! A big hug to you Cathy!! -TJ
