I was on a cruise, took an afternoon nap and awoke unable to hear in my right ear. I had no dizziness or vertigo or anything, just could not hear out of my right ear. I was getting off the ship the next day and saw my ENT a few days later. He started me on Predisone, the audiologist said I was completely deaf in my right ear and a hearing device would not help and basically there wasn't anything they could do for me. I researched information on the computer and found a Doctor in Maryland who told me there were other options, there was a hearing device called the crossover where you wear 2 hearing aids, that didn't sound like something I would like. In our local newspaper there was an article about 2 Doctors who could help people with SSD, I made an appointment, had the surgery for the Baha and as of June 17, 2009 I had the Divino sound processor put on. Still adjusting, had done lots of research and from what I read it seemed like people were hearing better than I am experincing. However I am still glad that I had it done.
