BP100 difficulties

February 19, 2011
posted by  xlaughlotsx

I've had the BP100 since August 2010 and I had to send it in once right after I got it because of static issues. I find that every once in a while the hearing aid makes a random sound, it's weird. But lately, I've just been hearing extra sound or static or something every time I talk or someone else talks, or if I'm in the car. It's really frustrating and annoying but I don't know what to do. I adjust the volume but it's just not functioning right to me. I upgraded from the Divino and so far I feel the Divino is better than the BP100 but from reading on here everybody loves the BP100.  What should I do? Because I feel there is something wrong with the hearing aid but I can't describe whats happening very well.

Wondering if re-programming might clear it up.. I don't recall reading any where of a default setting re-set button which could be handy when things go wrong on a 3 day weekend. Am sure you've tried a fresh battery... Hope someone can help! I'm still mega weeks away from my first sound processor. :O( This also bumps blog to top of list.... Good Luck

I would go back to your Audiologist and have them take a look at it to see if it needs re-programming or repair. Good Luck!

Hi xlaughlotsx, I agree with Padrick and Kencutus. You definitely should talk with your audiologist. It sounds like you've already made sure it's functioning properly. Have you changed the battery? Sometimes the battery makes a difference...Let us know what happens!

Yeah I've changed the battery several times. I'll see how the next week or so goes, the problem is that I'm away at school and I'm not sure if it's under warranty anymore. Thank you for your help guys!

I had a similar problem with my BP100. My audiologist sent it back to Cochlear. They installed a flexible cover over the battery. My audiologist added the Music program to my BP100 and told me to switch to the Music program if I heard squeaks and squeals (feedback) in Programs 1 or 2. Now, when my BP100 generates feedback from background music on TV or the like, I switch to the Music program and the feedback is gone.

I was getting feedback with my BP100 when I spoke. I went to my audiologist and she was able to reprogram how the BP100 picks up my voice. I don't get the feedback anymore. I have had 2 adjustments. Both have been very successful because I was very clear when explaining my difficulties, and describing the environment I work in and have the most difficulty in. My audiologist listened and was intent on getting the programing right for my situation. I hope this helps and Good Luck!
