Antique Rock Trivia quiz

July 12, 2009
posted by  Sheila M - Cochlear Volunteer

I created this yesterday with my Google account (using Google Docs) and posted it on Facebook to share with my friends.

See if you can open this link and take the quiz. If you were able to hear music before losing your hearing and are over 50 years of age, you might be familiar with these songs.

Enjoy!

Sheila . . . gosh! I thought I knew a little about RocknRoll of the 50s, or at least the 60s,and I can't answer any but the first of your questions.Sigh. Be interested to hear how others fare. Thanks, Linda

I tried, but think that some of this music was a little before my time :-) It was fun though and maybe I'll have to listen to a few of the groups mentioned.

I'm like Linda and Joe, thought I knew music from this time...but I guessed at several, too! I love the kitty, too! A fun break! Thanks.

I had so much fun doing the trivia quiz. I do them sometimes at work for our employee newsletter. I'm a product of the 60s, so I tend to go for those. Next time I will do a different era, so be READY!!! Answers: 1) Blue Suede Shoes/Carl Perkins, 2) Stop in the Name of Love/The Supremes, 3) Crying Time/Ray Charles, 4) Betty Everett singing lyrics "it's in his kiss/The Shoop Shoop Song, 5) a Battle song by Johnny Horton/The Battle of New Orleans, 6) Spanish Harlem/The Drifters, 7)Close to You/The Carpenters, 8) The Lion Sleeps Tonight/The Tokens, 9) Roll Over, Beethoven/Chuck Berry, and 10) Rhythm of the Rain/The Cascades. Did you make an A, B or C? ha ha

I think I guessed pretty well! Thanks for posting about music, Sheila. I've been hearing bionically for about 3 months. Speech is pretty good but music is still pretty bad although getting a little better. I listened to your Billy Joel on Sesame Street video. It made me happy and sad at the same time. The old Billy I know and love just is not there for me. I'm doing some music mourning. Does music sound good at all to you - close to what you remember? Has it gotten better with time? Any tips? Thanks, Michelle

sherowe, I couldn't respond to you on your page here because of your semi-private settings. You can change your privacy settings to allow members here to respond to you. YES, music sounds exactly like it did many years ago before I lost all hearing. It took me a few months of listening everyday to get to where I could understand the words. Now with the Freedom processor on both implants, the quality of the music is amazing! Just keep listening...some everyday even if it doesn't sound good yet. Patience and practice is the key!

Thank you, Sheila! I amazed that music sounds that good to you - what a blessing. Its encouraging to me. Now music is pretty much atonal. I'll surely practice more with your encouraging story. Of course I know the line - "everyone is different" yada yada. Also, I'll tweak my privacy settings and start using this site more! Thanks, again.
