Hi my name is Jerry, I'm 73 years YOUNG *smile* Ya Right!
I was born October of 1939
I joined the Cochlear community in the spring of 2010
FIRST cochlear implant. April 7, 2010, Activation May 6, 2010.
Bilateral implant September 12, 2011 activated October 12, 2011
I was in the US Army at the age of 18 years, and served with Elvis. Yep..that was long ago. (Time flies when your having fun) *grin* I was hurt in the Army when a Grenada exploded close by. 'BANG' That was the beginning of my head noise. After the broken bones and burns got better I returned to duty.
I had progressive hearing loss in both ears. I got my first pair of hearing aids, and I had to keep getting stronger ones, after years I couldn't hear with aids.
I have raised birds before losing my hearing, I always enjoyed hearing birds sing. I like the 'Oldies' songs and music, the radio was on most of my off the time.
I'm married and we have three children. They are grown and marred and now have children of there own. Oldest Granddaughter is a nurse at the hospital I was implanted at. Our oldest Grandson is in the US Navy stationed in Japan. One of our twin Grandsons is in the US Army, he just returned from serving in the Iraq. The other twin Grandson is in College up state. We also have a teenage Grandson that is still in high school.
Our youngest Grandchildren are 7 years old, 6 years, 4 years and 2 year. I never heard there voices until Cochlear came around *Smile*
I have "Spastic Dysphoria" vocal cord spasm. My voice often gets stuck or is breaking up. I also have "Meniere's Disease" it started in July 2000. I'm doing fine for the shape I'm in *smile*
We have 2 dogs, one is a little mixed breed 'Me-two' that is 9 years old. Then comes 'Joli' our 2 year old Standard Poodle. I now can hear a "Bark" sometime to often. *smile*
I enjoy meeting new people, and I like talking about my new ears.
I'm not a good speaker, and I can't write or spell.
Let's make friends, and talk about COCHLEAR *Smile*
