Hello all. For over a period of 5 years I had unexplained nausea, vomiting and dizziness that would attack me for periods of months beginning in late winter and subsiding in the summer time. During this same period I experienced sudden hearing loss with associated tinnitus and stuffiness in my ear. It was detemined that I had come down with Meniere's disease. Once my vestibular system was destroyed, the episodic attacks stopped and not have had one now for over a decade.
I set out this year to see if I was a candidate for a cochlear implant and learned that I was not, but rather I was a candidate for a BAHA transplant. I got excited about the procedure, patricularly when I learned about the abilibty to play music through the device as I am a musician and music is a central part of my lifie.
I just had my surgery 2/5/2009 and am looking forward to receiving my BAHA Divino. I am anticipating this new era or "ear" in my life will bring an additional level of quality that has been missing for so many years.
