I am Alice.  Many of you know me better by justagram though and thru CI Hear which I am webmaster of along with being the owner of the Yahoo group with the same name.  I have bilateral deafness that happened overnight several years ago.  Although we have no real diagnosis for why - it appears that I have an unusual hearing anatomy which has caused me to be a difficult implantee.  I have had 9 cochlear implant surgeries and some of those were done by well known surgeons.  At this point, I am not hearing.  We know that there is considerable damage to my auditory nerves but we haven't given up yet.  I do know the joy that the CI brings and hope it returns to me again.
