A new ALD toy!!

posted by  Paula M -Awareness Manager

I am so excited about my newest assistive gadget!  Thanks for Mark Doshier and Teri Wathen for sharing their success with this, I ordered it and it was delivered within 24 hours!!!

What is my new toy??  The ClearSounds Bluetooth Neckloop, CS-CLA7BT.  Honestly I have to tell you, I am not that big of a techie, I am the type who waits to see how other people are doing with their devices before I am going to venture out......  Don't worry about having challenges in figuring out how to use this device, the instruction booklet is very simple and I am so excited I have it paired with my work and personal cell phones!!  I love hearing on the phone bilaterally, too!!  I am sure I am hearing better than a lot of people with "normal" hearing.  And by the way, ask your audi about the map that you use on the phone, you can change the T to M ratio.  The default setting is 3:1, but I have mine set at 4:1 and I use the quiet/whisper setting on my Freedom processors.

The price of this neckloop varies....I paid $129, but where I usually get my ALD's was selling it for $199....so check around before you purchase it!

And let us all know your success, too!  Or if you have a favorite "toy" share that, too.....I might just get to go shopping for another device to make life easier!

Have a GREAT day!

Paula, thanks for mentioning this, I'm looking into this for me. The idea of talking on the cell phone bilaterally is a great idea! Carla

It's fabulous Carla!! Keep us posted when you try it out. If you have a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services resource center in your area....or an ALD demo room anywhere...you can try it....or check with your awareness manager then next time she's in the area....then you can try before you buy!! Have a GREAT day!

I got to try one out and I loved hearing the sounds coming through bilaterally! I just purchased one online tonight and I should get it by the end of this week. I have a Samsung a737 phone and I had to buy an accessory that converts the Samsung USB port to a 2.5mm port for the Clearsounds Bluetooth CLA7BT. I can't wait to get it!! Thanks for mentioning this neat bluetooth neckloop!

Paula, Thanks for sharing this post. I tried the same device, and while it was a wonderful gadget, I found it drained my cell phone battery too fast. (I use a Blackberry 8830) So I sent it back and got the ClearSounds neckloop CLAV7. Love it!!!! I'm curious about your T to M ratio on the whisper setting...going to give that a try! You're right, using the phone bilaterally is just awesome!

Wow, I just stumbled across this and think I will look into this. I use a Blackberry Storm and can hear fine on in without the T-Coil enabled but this device looks like it could make things easier, especially when I go bilateral. Thanks for this great post!
