How To Use

 Personal Audio Cables

  Attach accessory connector to accessory port on Freedom. Connect opposite end of cable (PAC) to headphone jack on battery-operated device. (Turn Freedom off and back on or press increase/decrease buttons until EA appears) 
 
To disconnect the Personal Audio Cable, push the increase/decrease button after removing cable to return to the regular microphone function OR switch the processor off and back on after removing the cable.

Turn ESPrit 3G off. Connect Accessory Adapter Cable to Accessories Adapter. Connect Accessories Adapter to accessory port on bottom of processor. Switch processor on. Connect Personal Audio Cable plug marked “Cochlear” to socket on Accessory Adapter Cable. Connect cable plug marked “Cochlear” to accessory port. Connect other end (Walk1) to audio device.

To disconnect Personal Audio Cable, switch processor off and back on after removing Accessories Adapter from the ESPrit 3G accessory port.

Plug accessory connector on one end of TV HiFi Cable into Freedom accessory port. Connect opposite end marked "TV" to headphone jack on audio/video component. Press increase/decrease buttons on Freedom processor until EA appears OR turn Freedom off and back on after connecting TV HiFi Cable.

To disconnect the TV HiFi Cable, push the increase/decrease button after removing cable to return to the regular microphone function OR switch the processor off and back on after removing the cable.

To disconnect TV HiFi Cable, switch processor off and back on after removing Accessories Adapter from the ESPrit 3G accessory port.

 Lapel Microphones

Plug accessory connector on Freedom Lapel Microphone into Freedom accessory port. Clip microphone to a person or object close to the sound source. Press the increase/decrease buttons on Freedom processor until EA appears OR turn Freedom off and back on after connecting Lapel Microphone. To disconnect the Lapel Mic, push the increase/decrease button after removing cable to return to the regular microphone function OR switch the processor off and back on after removing the cable. When Lapel Mic is connected to the Freedom, the processor’s microphone is not active.

Turn ESPrit 3G off. Connect Lapel Microphone to Accessories Adapter, then connect Accessories Adapter to 3G accessory port at base of processor. Switch processor on. Lapel Microphone can be clipped to a person or object that is close to the source of sound you wish to hear. The processor microphone is not active when using accessories connected directly to the Accessories Adapter. To disconnect, turn ESPrit 3G off, remove Accessory Adapter and turn processor back on.

Connect plug at one end of the Lapel Microphone to the accessory port at the top of the SPrint processor. The Lapel Microphone can be clipped to a person or object that is close to the source of sound you wish to hear. The processor microphone is not active when the Lapel Microphone is connected to the processor.

Turn ESPrit 3G off. Connect Accessory Adapter Cable to Accessories Adapter. Connect Accessories Adapter to accessory port at base of processor. Switch processor on. Accessory Adapter Cable can be clipped to clothing. To use telephone, connect Telephone Adapter plug to input socket on Accessory Adapter Cable. The processor microphone stays active when using accessories connected to the Accessory Adapter Cable. To disconnect, turn ESPrit 3G off, remove Accessory Adapter and turn processor back on.


The ESPrit Telephone Adapter works the same as the accessory above. The only difference is the way it connects to the processor. To use the ESPrit Telephone Adapter, turn the ESPrit 3G off and connect the Accessories adapter to the accessory port at the base of the processor. Then connect the adapter on the telephone adapter to the input on the Accessories Adapter. When using accessories that connect directly to the Accessories Adapter, the processor microphone will not function until the accessory is removed.

To use the Telephone Adapter to make or receive a call, connect the plug at the end of the Adapter’s cable to the accessory port at the top of the SPrint processor. Lift the phone’s handset and the sound from the phone will be sent directly to the SPrint processor. The Telephone Adapter is compatible with corded landline phones with the keypad in the base of the phone.

 Monitor Earphones

Attach accessory connector on Freedom Monitor Earphones to accessory port on Freedom. Press both sides of the increase/decrease buttons on Freedom processor until EA appears OR turn Freedom off and back on after connecting Monitor Earphones. A hearing caregiver can then use the earbuds to listen to processor microphone, FM, built-in telecoil or the function of an attached accessory. To troubleshoot an attached accessory, connect the Freedom accessory into the "piggy back" connector on the Monitor Earphones. The earphones stay active for 90 seconds. If you wish to extend the time, press any button before the 90 seconds is up.

Press increase/decrease button again to reactivate the Monitor Earphones. When finished, remove the Monitor earphones and press the increase/decrease buttons OR switch the processor off and back on after removing the cable. Refer to Freedom User Manual for further information.

Turn off ESPrit 3G processor. Attach Monitor Earphones to the 4 pin connector on one side of the Accessories Adapter.

Insert Accessories Adapter into ESPrit 3G accessory port on the bottom of the processor. Turn ESPrit 3G on. A hearing caregiver can insert the earbuds and listen to the sound quality of the processor microphone or the built-in telecoil. When finished, switch ESPrit 3G off, remove the Accessories Adapter and switch processor back on.

A hearing caregiver can use the SPrint Monitor Earphones to troubleshoot the external microphone for sound distortion. The earphones can also be used to check the function of an attached accessory such as FM or an accessory cable. To use the SPrint Monitor Earphones, lift the plastic cover at the top of the SPrint processor. Connect the monitor earphones to the Earphone Socket, the round input with 4 pins. The sound you hear is the sound received by the microphone before being processed by the sound processor.

Connect accessory or FM cable to the accessory port next to the earphone connector to check for sound quality of the attached accessory connected to an active sound source such as an FM transmitter or audio device.
